About

Since Rancho Grande’s inception in 1974, the Alvarado family has made it their ambition to provide a small, welcoming family environment where people can count on great food with a clean, casual and friendly atmosphere.

Affectionately nicknamed “RG’s,” “The Ranch” or “Louie’s,” Rancho Grande is a great find for anyone with a desire for authentic Mexican food. From our mouth-watering Carne Asada and Carnitas to our delicious Barbacoa, Chile Rellenos, Enchiladas—not to mention our famous Louie Special—every item is prepared when you order it and to your satisfaction.

Originally owned and operated by our Dad, Jose Luis Alvarado Sr., there was no such thing as second best; attention to detail was a way of life, and nothing less was acceptable. Dad brought a hard work ethic, dedication to quality, and the family recipes that we follow to this day.

History of Rancho Grande

It was in the Spirit of Family
that Rancho Grande opened its
doors in 1974

Three brothers banded together
to bring a little Mexican authenticity
to Norwalk’s front door

Two years later
it was bought out by one
He was our father
Jose Luis Alvarado, the “middle one”

He was the smart one
’cause he had the most—
kids, that is—and made us the host

He taught us, we learned
“With good Service, Value, and Quality,
that is how you’ll earn our customer’s
Friendship, Satisfaction, and Loyalty.”

These lessons were key
good food, good prices, good people
it’s all so easy to see

And though our father is gone
his spirit lives on
and those lessons we learned
is still how it’s done

P.S. And now in the good hands
of his “middle one”—
and youngest one
